TWSD Board Holds Closed Session Meeting – June 14, 2025

The Timberon Water & Sanitation District board met for a special session on Saturday morning, June 14, at the Lodge. Chairman David Cruey called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM, and all five board members were present.

After the Pledge of Allegiance and salute to the New Mexico flag, the board voted unanimously to enter a closed session. The purpose, as permitted under New Mexico statute, was to discuss personnel matters and review the district’s Non-Disclosure Agreement.

The closed session lasted about an hour and a half. When the board returned to open session at 10:45 AM, Vice Chair Edward Hardesty confirmed that no action had been taken during the closed portion and that the discussion was limited to the agenda topics.

Once back in open session, the board took two votes:

  • Creation of a Volunteer Ombudsman Position: The board unanimously approved a motion to establish the volunteer role of Ombudsman and appointed former General Manager Otis Price to fill that position.

  • Suspension with Pay for David Hunter: The board amended the terms of Plant Manager David Hunter’s recent suspension, changing it to a suspension with pay, retroactive to June 12, 2025. The board plans to invite Mr. Hunter to address their concerns directly at a future meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 10:48 AM.
