Board Meeting Recap – May 13, 2025
Timberon Water & Sanitation District
The TWSD board met Tuesday afternoon, May 13, with all board members present and a full agenda on deck.
Water Report
Plant Manager David Hunter shared some good news—our water loss dropped to just 12% last month, a big improvement thanks to the crew quickly fixing leaks around town. If this continues for a few more months, the State may remove us from the violations list. Some water theft issues were also resolved, with unauthorized meters shut off and lines capped.
Financial Report
Treasurer JJ Duckett reported the district’s bank accounts are in good shape, with strong balances across all funds. Budget planning for next year is nearly complete, with a proposed total of $1.47 million. Spending will be tightened up as we approach the end of the fiscal year.
Office Updates
New software is being rolled out in the office, and all staff will receive training. A new central copy machine was approved for lease, which will help save money by handling bulk mailings in-house.
Old Business
- Minutes from the April meetings were approved.
- Liens were authorized for three delinquent water accounts.
New Business Highlights
- The board approved starting the bidding process for a new IT service provider for the SCADA system at the water plant.
- A plan to rehabilitate several production wells was approved, pending funding.
- A motion was passed to require two signatures on district checks, one being a board member.
- The old fire suppression system in the kitchen will be removed.
- The board reassigned the Custodian of Records duties to the Compliance Officer.
- Review of the office policy manual and a new job description for the Office Manager were both tabled for now.
Community Spotlight
A group of local kids gave a great presentation about the Junior Lifeguard program they’d like to participate in this summer. The Timberon Development Council is covering the cost so they can get trained and help out at the pool.
Save the Date
Customer Appreciation Day is coming up May 14 from 9:00 AM to Noon in the TWSD lobby. Stop by!
Memorial Day Weekend Fun
Chairman Cruey announced that the Flying Royals trapeze performers will be in Timberon over Memorial Day weekend, with four shows planned. Hotdogs for the kids and a visit from Harmony the Clown (and maybe her monkey!) are also in the works.
The meeting wrapped up at 5:40 PM.
