Note: This is an informal recap written for the community and is not a substitute for the official meeting minutes.
The November 11th TWSD board meeting was a quick one, but there was a lot packed in between updates on the main well repairs and the usual business.
Wendy opened with the monthly water report, and right away you could tell everyone was still feeling the strain of the ongoing well emergency. Well #1 and the Golf Course well together produced over 4.4 million gallons, but with the pump failure on the main well and all the reshuffling that’s followed, we are asking the community to conserve water where they can. Statewide Drilling is on it, though. Otis is headed to Lubbock for pipe, the new pump and motor are due by Thursday, and Wendy already has volunteers lined up if we end up needing help getting water to folks who can’t get to the Lodge.
Richard McMullen gave an update from the Budget & Bylaws Committee. Nothing new budget-wise this month, but the committee has finished a working draft of the revised bylaws. He’ll be sending it out to both current and incoming board members, complete with color-coded notes showing what’s being added, removed, or still needs discussion.
The Board also approved a Budget Adjustment Request to the DFA. Basically, TWSD’s working budget and the State’s version didn’t quite match up, so Wendy’s been working with the DFA to sort out about nine mismatched line items. The adjustment passed unanimously.
During public questions, folks asked about everything from expected line breaks once the new pump goes in, to how much the repair is costing (about $30,000), to whether the old pumps can be rebuilt (they’re being sent to El Paso to find out). There were also plenty of thanks directed at Wendy and the crew for keeping things running during a pretty stressful stretch.
Before wrapping up, Chairman Cruey shared that a Level 4 operator will be here Friday to answer community questions. Director Robb brought up an email involving nine alleged Open Meetings Act violations — an email that apparently landed in an old, unused GM inbox. Wendy will track it down and address whatever needs addressing.
The meeting wrapped at 4:20 PM, and with a little luck, by the next one we’ll have better news about Well #1 being back online.
